March 9, 2010 I received the April and May calendars today. If the Rockets don’t make the playoffs, their season will be over in mid- April. Therefore, we need to work as many events as possible in the next month. PLEASE check your schedule and let me know as soon as possible whether I can count on you to work any of the events below. If you are anxious about serving alcohol, please let me know and I will make you a runner or request an ice cream or popcorn booth. Do not let your fear of checking id’s stop you from helping the band! At this time I would like to remind everyone who was TABC certified this fall (and for whom the booster club paid for that training) that you are required to work two events this Rockets season or we will expect you to pay the booster club back for the $20.
In addition I still need five people to work on Friday, March 19. Check in time for that event is 4:30. I’m also throwing out some weekday games in March that I didn’t previously sign up for. If you can work any of these events, please let me know:

In addition, I should be getting the April calendar very soon. If you are available for any of these events, please let me know asap! January 19, 2010 I just got the March calendar so I wanted to pass it on. I know it’s a long way away but we need to reserve our spots before they are all taken. Please let me know if you can work any of these events asap: Saturday March 6 – John Mayer Concert (report time 6:00 pm) Saturday March 13 – Rockets vs Nets (report time 4:30) Friday March 19 – Rockets vs Celtics (report time 4:30) Saturday March 27 – Rockets vs Lakers (report time 4:30) BIG GAME!! Remember that if the Rockets don’t make the playoffs, we will basically be done with our season in April. If you haven’t worked yet, now is the time to hop on board and work a couple of games. Please email me dates you are available to work! January 12. 2010 At last night’s Booster club meeting, we discussed how we have only earned half of what we had earned last year at this time with ourToyota Center events. We have a lot of ground to make up in the next three months! Thus far we’ve only earned $2500 towards our annual goal of $15,000. Therefore, we really need to step up our efforts. If you recall, we mentioned that if the booster club paid for your TABC certification, we would expect you to work at least two events. Now is the time to start signing up for those events! Levy limits the amount of workers at each event. They have started making event sign up on a first come, first serve basis, and events fill up quickly with other groups. Therefore I took the liberty to sign up for 8 people at three big events and I will give the option for a few others. PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR CALENDAR AND LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU CAN WORK ANY OF THESE EVENTS! Here is what we have:
As a reminder, you must have your NRA online certification complete to work. If you need me to re-send the directions (and answers) please let me know. Also, please show up to work in proper uniform, meaning black pants and black non-skid shoes. I have been reprimanded by the Levy staff for having some of our group members show up out of uniform. This makes the whole group look bad and, consequently, will keep us from being given the prime-money making booths. We work these events so that our kids can have the first class band program they have come to expect and deserve. In order to maintain our high standards of excellence, it will take all of us chipping in to do our part. I look forward to working with each of you and getting to know you through this experience. If you have any concerns regarding working events, please feel free to email me so that we can discuss them. I look forward to hearing from each of you December 8, 2009 We’ve gotten off to a good start with Toyota Center events but we have a long way to go! As it stands, I can still use more people for December 31. If you can work that afternoon, please let me know. We will make a lot of money for the band program and be home in plenty of time to ring in the new year. I’ve attached a calendar of the January events I’m contemplating working. There are quite a few games on the weekends. Based on your responses, I will book the events that I get the best response for. Let me point out that several events for December booked up before I was able to get a group together. The same thing will happen for January. Therefore, please take a few minutes to respond to this email in the next couple of days to let me know if you are available for one or more of these events.
Finally, we’ve gotten most of the shirts. I should have the remaining shirts by Dec 19. If you are one of the people who chose to purchase your shirt, I will need your $40 when I give you your shirt. Checks can be made out to AHSBBBC. As always, thanks for your help with this and all fundraising efforts! December 1, 2009 To reiterate the dress code enforced by Levy as well as some of their rules, please read carefully: As a part of health code..
As a part SOP for Levy Restaurants...
October 25, 2009 Now that the competition season has come to a close, it’s time to ramp up for working Toyota Center events. PLEASE REMEMBER, there is a MANDATORY NRA (National Restaurant Association) training at the Toyota Center THIS WEDNESDAY, October 28th, from 7–9 PM. A carpool will be leaving from Austin High School at 5:45 PM SHARP Wednesday evening. Please email me to let me know if you plan to drive yourself or if we should expect you at the carpool. If you plan to drive yourself, please enter through the staff entrance on the side of Toyota Center that faces Hwy 59. Because of the number of people attending, I will also need a few people to drive carpools. I’m impressed because I have 36 people signed up in addition to the two who have already attended the training. TABC Training I have scheduled another TABC training class to be held at Austin High School on November 17 at 6:30 PM. There are several people who need to attend this TABC training session to renew their certification for another two years. Please let me know if you plan to attend this training. Please send me an email to let me know if I can count on you to work any of these games. NRA Training Levy Restaurants is requiring that everyone who works at Toyota Center be TABC certified AND NRA trained. There is ONLY ONE more NRA training session, which will be held on October 28 from 7 – 9 PM at the Toyota Center in downtown Houston . PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND THIS TRAINING, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WORK AT THE TOYOTA CENTER UNTIL NEXT FALL. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THIS TRAINING! I will be setting up carpools to this training from Austin High School closer to the event. Please let me know if I can add your name to the list. Several people who received their TABC training in August haven’t signed up for this training yet. Please try to attend. Levy is being very strict with the rules this year and will not budge on this requirement. Finally, I will be putting together one more TABC training class in November. Please check your emails for that date in the coming days. If you aren’t sure if your TABC certification is up to date, please send me an email and I would be happy to let you know. September 24, 2009 I hope that you have been enjoying the marching season thus far. We are getting ramped up for the Rockets season at Toyota Center. Levy Restaurants sent out an announcement stating that there is a MANDATORY in person training session that EVERY VOLUNTEER MUST ATTEND. Unfortunately, the first session is on October 5th, which is Ft Bend Band Night, so we as band parents cannot make that one. The only other session is on October 28th from 7 – 9 pm at Toyota Center. Please see the note below from Levy: The Report time for the NRA training on the October 5th and October 28, 2009 is 7 PM to 9 PM. This is a mandatory meeting for all volunteers. Anyone that does not attend one of these trainings will not be allowed to volunteer after October 28, 2009. Therefore, if you have volunteers that can't make the scheduled date. Let me know and I will add them to the opposite date of training. Please let me know if you will be able to attend this training on October 28th. I need to turn in a list of names to Levy ASAP. If you do not attend, you will not be allowed to work Toyota Center events at all this season. Please make every effort to attend, as your involvement with this fund raising activity is VITAL to the success of the Austin Bulldog Band program. Secondly, Levy is requiring that we purchase shirts to use when we volunteer. Shirts cost $40 each. The Band Booster Club authorized me to buy 12 shirts for use by the group. I will disburse and collect these 12 shirts to volunteers at the games, bringing them home to launder after each event. Some parents at the booster club meetingindicated that they would prefer to pay the $40 and buy their own shirt, so that they can wear it to the game and not have to worry about changing clothes at Toyota Center. If you would like to have your own shirt, please email me as such by Sunday at 5 pm (September 27) so that I can order the shirts. I will collect your $40 when I give you the shirt. (You are under no obligation to purchase a shirt.) Thank you so very much for participating in this fund raising activity. I look forward to working with each of you. Don’t forget to let me know if you will be at the October 28thtraining! August 25, 2009
August 10, 2009 Hello everyone and thank you for expressing an interest in working Toyota Center events to benefit the Austin Bulldog Band! Our group raised over $18,000 in funds for the band last year alone! In order to work concessions at various Toyota Center events, Levy Restaurants and the state of Texas requires that we ALL be TABC certified. To become certified, everyone must take a three hour course. This certification is good for two years. In order to hit the ground running once the Rockets season starts, I have set up a certification course at Austin High School on Monday, August 17 at 6:30 PM. Space is limited so please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to attend this class. The booster club will pay the cost of the certification class ($20 per person) but we ask that you work at least two Toyota Center events over the course of this school year so that we are able to recoup the cost. Please be aware that you will be contacted to reimburse the training costs if you get trained and then are unable to work any events. If you are unable to attend on August 17, there will be another class after marching season has ended.
If you are a returning parent and do not know when your certification is up for renewal, please send me an email and I will let you know. If you are receiving this email and wish to be removed from the Toyota Center distribution list, please let me know. |
