On another note, the Mission Burrito night in January was a success, we made a little over $400 for the Band. Thank you all so much for bringing your appetite. I enjoyed visiting with many of you all. Thus far, 2 Mission Burrito Nights have raised in excess of $1,100 for the Band. Please mark your callander for Tuesday, April 17, 2012, as this will be our next Mission
Burrito Night Fundraiser. Once again, we will receive 50% of sales made from 4 PM to 9 PM.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. It’s amazing how fast the time flies. We will be having a booster club meeting this Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 6:30 PM. We will meet at the school band hall.

I recognize the big marching band season is behind us, however there is much to talk about. For example, we need to begin planning for the Spring Banquet at the end of the school year. We need to continue to discuss and work at ways to raise money for the band. We need to be diligent in raising money during the spring, in preparation of all the big expenses in the fall. We also need to discuss the possibility of having the annual auction in May 2012. This has been an annual tradition; however, at this time, I am afraid we do not have a chairperson to lead the charge; hence, we may need to pass on the auction. We also need to discuss the various booster club chairperson positions that need to be filled for the next school year.

I hope your schedule will permit your attendance.

Mission Burrito Night – January 17 from 4-9 pm

Also, please plan to eat at Mission Burrito on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 4 PM to 9 PM. Once again Mission Burrito has agreed to donate 50% of their sales between 4 PM and 9 PM on January 17, 2012. You all may recall, we did this back in October 2011 and raised more the $700 dollars for the band and dance team. So please come, and bring your appetite. Just tell them that you are hear to support the Austin High School Bulldog Band and Angel Dance Team. The address for Mission Burrito is 15810 Southwest Fwy # 600. This is on the Whole Food Corner of US 59 / SH 6 in Sugar Land,

Area Band Auditions

Alice HS- Alice, Texas

2:30pm   Dismissed from school- make sure you have instrument, music, luggage, toiletries, etc

ASAP        Arrive at FBISD Administration Building- please drop off or park on the home side of the stadium, far south lot (farthest from Wheeler Field House)

3:00pm        Buses depart FBISD Admin Building

Charter buses will leave from FBISD Admin and travel to Corpus Christi.  We will stop for dinner on the way.

Saturday morning we will have breakfast at the hotel and leave for Alice HS.  At the conclusion of all auditions, we will leave Alice HS and return to FBISD Admin Building.  Students must be picked up at the FBISD Admin building.  I estimate the return time to Sugar Land at approximately 9-10 pm.  Students should plan to call home for rides once we are on the bus heading back to Sugar Land.

Students are responsible for all meals while on this trip, and each will receive a meal per diem of $32.

Any student who makes the Texas All-State Band will have to pay a registration fee of $15 at Alice HS.  Please make sure to have $15 cash or check to pay this registration fee if necessary.

January 2012 Schedule

We will begin working in January, so I hope you are all ready to sling some dawgs and pour some beer.There are 10 home games in January (Sa-7, F-13, Sa-14, Tu-17, Th-19, Sa-21, W-25, F-27, Sa-28, M-30) along with some other events. All of the January games begin at 7pm, so our report time will be around 4pm. I will have the calendar of open dates by Monday to pass on.

If you haven’t already completed the online training for TABC and LEVY, please do so before January 1^st. The link and instructions for the TABC training is below. If you need me to forward you the link to the LEVY training, let me know.
