Adrian Caswell, Assistant Director

Adrian Caswell is in his first year of teaching and serves as the Assistant Director of Bands at Austin High School. He is responsible for teaching the Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Music Theory, and Music History programs. Previously he served as the student teacher at Pflugerville High School and Westview Middle School and for three years he was a music and marching consultant at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas.

A recent graduate from The University of Texas, Mr. Caswell studied conducting under Dr. Scott Hanna and Glen Richter. He was also a member of the trumpet studio, studying with Ray Sasaki and Chris Carrillo. As a member of the Wind Ensemble, Mr. Caswell performed at the Festival del Sole in Napa Valley and in the world premier of John Corigliano’s Symphony No. 2 at Carnegie Hall. During his five-year tenure at Texas he also performed with the Longhorn Band, serving as a section leader for four years. He was highlighted as a soloist his junior and senior year, including the Rose Bowl game in 2005.

For five years Mr. Caswell was a member of The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as a featured soloist. He also served as the trumpet section leader and Horn Sergeant in 2004 and 2005. Under his leadership, The Cadets won the Jim Ott trophy for high brass and the World Championship, tying the record score in 2005.

At this time Mr. Caswell resides in Houston with his fiancée, Jenny. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, The National Association for Music Education, and Kappa Kappa Psi.

 

Brian Stevens, Percussion Director

Brian Stevens is beginning his fifth year as Percussion Director at Stephen F. Austin High School.  Mr. Stevens completed his degree in Music Performance at the University of Southern Mississippi.  While attending the University of Southern Mississippi, he studied under Dr. John Wooton and performed with the University Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Drum Band and the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band.

 Mr. Stevens marched as a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps for two years.  He has taught percussion with the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps and the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.

 Brian Stevens is a native of Tupelo, Mississippi and is the son of Floyd and Linda Stevens.    Both of Mr. Stevens’ parents are musicians.  Floyd Stevens is a band director at Tupelo High School.  Linda Stevens was a choir director, and currently assists her husband with his band program.  Mr. Stevens lives in The Meadows Place with his wife, C.J.
