As
one of the leading authorities in marching percussion to date, Ralph’s
experiences started in the late sixties with the Los Angeles Police Band
as a marching member, and on to drum and bugle corps, the Velvet
Knights, and the Anaheim Kingsmen.
The
early seventies with Anaheim launched a career in composition and
arranging to date. Ralph became Director of Percussion for the famed
Santa Clara Vanguard from 1976 through 1990. During that time his
achievements were honored with five high percussion awards and four
world champion titles.
Ralph has scored music for many other corps as well as college
percussion ensembles and marching bands, with prestigious awards and
recognition's throughout his career.
Besides marching percussion achievements, Ralph has been successful in
the record industry with Grammy nominations for jazz and rhythm and
blues, as well as receiving a gold
record for rhythm and blues. While working in the entertainment
business Ralph has worked for Disney, and bowl games such as the Citrus
Bowl, Orange Bowl, and Super Bowl.
Ralph also travels to Japan and Taiwan about 7 to 8 times a year to work
with percussion ensembles, marching bands, and for Drum Corp Japan.
Ralph is a world renown educator in percussion, and was percussion
coordinator, and arranger for the Blue Knights D&B corps from 1990
-2001, and the Capital Regiment D&B corps in 2006, and also a percussion
consultant for Santa Clara Vanguard D&B Corps, the Troopers D&B Corps,
Arizona Academy D&B Corps and many others.
Ralph is an endorser and clinician for Pearl Drums and percussion,
Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth Inc., Evan's Drum Heads and Xymox practice
pads. Ralph also has 5 signature sticks from Vic Firth.
Ralph was inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame in Y2k and received a life
time achievement award from Sabian Cymbals. Ralph has taught and
studied with the DCI Hall of Famer, Fred Sanford, and studied with
Charles Dowd at the University of Oregon, and is now a music judge for
WGI and BOA.

Ralph Hardimon is a percussionist, teacher,
composer, and clinician. He is best known for his work
in the areas of
marching percussion,
rudimental drumming,
drum & bugle corps,
and
marching band.
Hardimon's performance experience started in the late

Vic Firth
also manufactures a popular brand of
drumsticks
that feature Hardimon's name. These are heavy, white
sticks with a barrel tip, intended for use with marching
snare drums. Another, lighter version of sticks also
bear his name, titled 'Ralphie Jr.s'
